Frequently Asked Questions
The entire range of Hammocks that we stock at My Hammocks has been built to last. We don’t stock cheap or flimsy hammocks, which means that the entire range of hammocks = that we offer are designed to last you for years.
In general, the exact lifespan that you get out of your hammock will come down to how you use it and how you care for it. We recommend packing away your outdoor hammock and storing it inside between uses to ensure a long lifespan. Hammocks that are stored outside are exposed to wind, salt, and other environmental elements that can all shorten their expected lifespan.
To get the most out of your indoor or outdoor hammock, we also recommend regularly cleaning and washing them. Individual care instructions can be found with your hammock.
The most comfortable types of hammocks are the ones that best fit your intended usage. Because we stock a wide range of hammocks, you can shop a complete range of double hammocks, camping hammocks, quilted hammocks, cotton hammocks, traditional hammocks, free standing hammocks, Garden hammocks, hammock chairs, kids hammocks, and Mexican hammocks (Mayan hammocks) or a Brazilian hammock to suit your exact requirements.
It depends. The size and dimensions of a hammock will vary depending on the type and the brand that you opt for. At the lower end of things, our kids’ hammocks are suitable for children, while at the other end of the spectrum we offer double hammocks that are large enough to accommodate one of more adults of different shapes and sizes. Each of the hammock’s list on our website will specify the size and dimensions. Please refer to individual product pages for size and capacity specifications.
Again, different hammocks will come with different weight limits. The size of the hammock, their hammock stand, spreader bar, and the materials that are used to construct it will dictate how much they can hold. On average, high quality hammocks will accommodate adults up to 150kg but some of our double hammocks will accommodate more. Please refer to the individual product pages for perfect hammock sizing and weight limit information.
At My Hammocks, the majority of our hammocks and hammock chairs are made from cotton or a cotton blend. If you’re not sure what type material is used for your chosen selection, you’ll find more specific information in on each product page.
With a little bit of preparation and some basic knowledge, setting up and taking down a new hammock is a simple and straight forward task. For most hammocks, you’ll need to find two anchor points that are sturdy and will be able to support your weight. You’ll also need hammock tree straps or ropes in order to attach the hammock to your desired anchor points. Once you’ve got everything ready and identified your anchor points, it’s simply a matter of hanging your hammock at your desired level and tension. When you’re ready to pack your hammock away, simply reverse these steps– simple! If you opt for a free-standing hammock, you’ll be able to hang your hammock from steel frame hammock stands, which means that you can set up and relax from anywhere without the need for anchor points.
